KeyWarrior - Variants

In total there are 16 off-the-shelf variants of KeyWarrior plus five base models for custom programming versions. For the details about the various KeyWarrior chips it is recommended to download and read the data sheet. This page gives only a rough orientation about the available variants.

Common features of all KeyWarrior chips:
-
PS/2, ADB™, and USB interfaces (except KW8LED which has USB only)
- All three codesets for PS/2 interface
- Power Key on separate input pin
- Customer specific matrix layout
- Drives Caps, Num, and Scroll LEDs
- Diodes on keys possible
- Some variants support one or two FN keys to switch between 2 or 3 alternate key tables
- Available in
SSOP48 packages, DIL40 is discontinued!

Key table programming options:

KeyWarrior chips are either customer specific factory programmed (subject to set up charges and minimum quantities), or they use an external serial EEPROM to store the key table. The key table can be loaded into the EEPROM via USB from MacOS or Windows. Following are the EEPROM programming options:

KeyWarrior Flex uses a 24C02 EEPROM, allows a single code for each key. This is a direct equivalent to the factory programmed version.

KeyWarrior Operator is a more powerful version of Flex. It uses a 24C16 EEPROM, which allows to program up to 8 key functions onto every single key. This allows you to generate key combinations from a single keystroke.

KeyWarrior Commander is the most sophisticated version of the customer programmable KeyWarrior chips. Like the Operator it uses a 24C16 EEPROM to store the matrix data. But it supports 48 macros that can be assigned to any key in the matrix. Each of these macros may be up to 31 keycodes long and can have the same keycode several times, allowing shortcuts, like a key generating "www.".
