KeyWarrior - FAQ

Q: Can I use KeyWarrior to adapt a PS/2, or ADB keyboard to USB?
A:
No, KeyWarrior is a keyboard controller not an adapter. You can use it to build keyboards that are USB, PS/2 and ADB compatible, but you can not convert between these protocols.

Q: Can I use KeyWarrior RF to make my USB, or PS/2 keyboard wireless?
A:
No, same as above, the KeyWarrior RF is a chip set to build wireless keyboards, it is not an adpater to make existing keyboards wireless.

Q: Can I use KeyWarrior combo to adapt my PS/2 or serial mouse to USB?
A:
Again no, KeyWarrior Combo is a single chip keyboard and mouse controller, it allows you to build a keyboard with a embedded mouse function, not to adapt between protocols.

Q: I want to program a certain character onto a key, how is that done?
A:
You can not really program a character onto a key of a keyboard. Which character is generated from a key depends on the keyboard driver on the system. For instance if you press the "Y" key on a US layout keyboard but your keyboard driver is set to German you will get a "Z" on the screen.
The "@" character is generated by pressing Alt-Q, that is on Windows, on MacOS you press Alt-L.
So if you need a special character on a key, make sure you understand the implications of using different language settings and different operating systems.

Q: Can I order small quantities of a KeyWarrior with a standard keyboard table?
A:
No, there is no such thing as a standard keyboard table.
KeyWarrior chips are either in-circuit programmable or factory programmed. In-circuit programmable chips (Flex, Operator, and Commander families) are available off the shelf in any quantity (minimum order value may apply). The factory programmed chips are for volume production, at less than 500 units per year they are not cost efficient. Factory programmed chips are custom made and need a special set up process.
