JoyWarrior - FAQ

Q: Can I use a JoyWarrior to connect a gameport joystick to USB?
A:
JoyWarrior is no adapter for old joysticks. But it is possible to integrate a JoyWarrior into an existing joystick to make it USB compatible.

Q: Is it possible to use pots with other values than 100K on JW24A8?
A:
Only to some degree. JW24A8 has been optimized for the use with 100K pots. Using significantly different values does decrease resolution and noise immunity. For different pot values the capacitor C2 has to be adapted accordingly.

Q: Is it possible to use other inputs than pots on JW24A8/MW24J8?
A:
No, JW24A8 and MW24J8 use a ratiometric resistance measuring method and require a three tap variable resistor to work. It is possible to use JW20A8, JW20A10, and MW24H8 to digitize voltage levels
.

Q: Windows shows a funny name for the JoyWarrior when opening the game controller control panel, is that correct?
A:
Depending on the Windows version there are variations which if any of the strings contained in a USB device are used, this is a bug in the USB implementation of some Windows versions.
